This is the story of how getting stuck in traffic in Lisbon, under a scorching sun, made me fall in love for Strawberry Frappes. I know Wimbledon would have been a better venue for a love affair including strawberries but the red stuff just captured my heart and now, every time the weather turns 'Jamaican' here in the UK, I bring out the blender and start buying strawberries every week. Whatever does not get eaten goes into the freezer, preparing for a big frozen smoothy as soon as the thermometer hits 30c!
Ingredients (Serves 2 or 3)
- 12 plump strawberries
- 2 cups ice
- 2 tbs caster sugar (or less - to taste)
- 1 cup water
How to prepare
- Add all ingredients to a blender (leaving strawberries at the bottom)
- Blitz for 1 or 2 minutes until all ice is crushed
- Try also adding fresh mint or the juice of half a lime or half a cup of passion fruit juice concentrate!
